WHAT IS SELF KER?
Self Ker Beauty exists to safely help make unruly hair more manageable and it is our mission to help people feel great about themselves. We produce a clean, do-it-yourSELF KERatin hair smoothing system, powered by Brazilian Botanicals.
The birth of Self Ker was inspired by several challenges. In the past, many people have had to leave the comfort of home for salon quality hair smoothing results, break the bank and even compromise health. That is no longer the case. Self Ker is the solution to all of these problems. Our over-the-counter, effective and accessibly priced keratin treatment does not contain formaldehyde (a cancer causing agent).

IS SELF KER SUITABLE FOR ALL HAIR TYPES?
Self Ker is suitable for a variety of hair types. From combating frizz to loosening curls and softening coarseness, we’re here to help make hair more manageable without permanently altering one's natural texture. Results will vary depending on hair type.
HOW MUCH OF THE KERATIN SMOOTHING TREATMENT SHOULD I USE ON MY HAIR FOR OPTIMAL RESULTS?
When applying the keratin smoothing treatment, we recommend lightly coating the hair from root to tip, without over-saturating.
Product Usage Guide in Ounces:
- Short hair/shoulder length ~ 3 oz
- Medium hair length ~ 6 oz
- Long hair length ~ 8 oz
*Keep in mind: Less product might be used for finer hair and more product might be used for thicker hair.
HOW MANY APPLICATIONS ARE INCLUDED IN THE TREATMENT?
It varies case by case. Applications range from 2 to 3 treatments, depending on hair type.
HOW LONG DOES THE TREATMENT LAST?
On average, 6 wonderful weeks but ranges from 1 to 3 months, depending on hair type. Results will gradually wash out, as the treatment is not permanent.
HOW CAN I MAINTAIN MY RESULTS?
By using a sulfate free upkeep products, such as Self Ker’s Maintenance Shampoo & Conditioner.
WHAT ARE THE STEPS FOR THE FULL SMOOTHING SYSTEM?
Step 1: Wash hair 2x with Pre-Treatment Deep Cleansing Shampoo (this removes build up and preps hair for smoothing treatment)
Step 2: Towel dry hair and blow dry until halfway dry (this enables better absorption for treatment)
Step 3: Apply do-it-yourSELF KERatin smoothing treatment section by section with a fine tooth comb, your hands and gloves as you wish (leave in hair for 10 minutes before moving on to next step)
Step 4: With the treatment still in your hair, blow dry 100% and flat iron (heat activation will lock in the treatment)
Step 5: Wash hair with sulfate free shampoo & conditioner to maintain results (this can be done immediately after treatment or several days after... your hair may have a sort of filmy residue until washed due to the treatment still being in)
AFTER LOCKING IN THE KERATIN SMOOTHING TREATMENT WITH HEAT, HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO WAIT TO WASH OUT THE TREATMENT AND CONDITION?
No time at all! You are able to wash and condition immediately or if you prefer, you can let the treatment set in for a few days.
After locking in the heat activated treatment, you will experience a residue on the hair until the wash after. When you are ready to wash, we recommend washing 2x with the Maintenance Shampoo then conditioning with the Maintenance Conditioner. This will cleanse away the treatment residue and bring out the smoothest of hair!
HOW MUCH BLOW DRY TIME WILL I SAVE AFTER LOCKING IN THE TREATMENT?
Self Ker cuts blow dry time by about 30% after locking-in the treatment. This makes your beauty routine easier and faster!
HOW SOON CAN I COLOR MY HAIR?
You can color your hair 48 hours after the treatment.
CAN I USE SELF KER IF I’M PREGNANT OR BREASTFEEDING?
Self Ker is formulated without formaldehyde or dangerous ingredients, however, to be extra safe, we always recommend consulting with your physician before you begin your smoothing treatment, if pregnant or breastfeeding.
IS THERE A SHELF LIFE FOR SELF KER PRODUCTS?
The manufactured date of all products is printed on the back of the products. The product shelf life is 3 years from the date produced. The period good after opening is 12 months.
WHAT IF I’M NOT FULLY SATISFIED WITH MY RESULTS?
We are confident that you will see great results, but if you are not completely satisfied, contact us within 30 days of order receipt for a refund.
